Nordic citizens entering Denmark

Citizens from Finland, Iceland, the Faeroe Islands, Norway or Sweden may enter Denmark without any restriction to reside, work or study. You do not need a residence or work permit.

  • Step 1 - CPR-number, health insurance card and choice of family doctor

    If you are moving to Aarhus you must first register your entry online and thereafter book an appointment to attend in person at Citizens' Services in order to get your CPR-number and choose a doctor.

  • Step 2 - NemID

    NemID is your personal secure login for digital contact with public authorities, netbanking and a wide range of online self service solutions. Your NemID is issued by Citizens' Services.

  • Step 3 - Tax card and personal tax number

    If you have any income, while staying in Denmark, you need to apply for at tax card and a personal tax number from the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen).

With a digital mailbox on borger.dk you can send and receive e-mail in a free, easy and secure way. In Denmark it is mandatory to receive all of your mail from the public authorities electronically through Digital Post. However, you can apply for exemption if you cannot use Digital Post.
