Bank account

When you receive pay from your employer or benefits from the public sector, it is useful to have a bank account. To open a bank account, you need to contact a bank of your own choice.


Remember to bring photo ID (e.g. your passport) and address information.



NemKonto Easy Account is the bank account which all public sector institutions use when making payments to you. It is an ordinary bank account, with many people designating their current account as their NemKonto Easy Account.


You do not necessarily need a bank account yourself to have a NemKonto Easy Account. If, for example, you use your spouse’s bank account, you can designate this account as your NemKonto Easy Account. If you do not have access to a bank account, you will need to choose a bank and ask to open an account and designate it as your NemKonto Easy Account.

If you are unable to open an account, you need to contact the public sector institution which owes you money. It is obliged to pay out your money and may well be able to help find a solution.
