Denmark offers guaranteed childcare. This means that all children in Denmark must be offered day care, i.e. a place at a nursery, personalized daycare, kindergarten or other types of daycare.
As a result of the childcare guarantee, your municipality must allocate a place to all children from when they are 26 weeks old and until they start in grade 4.
If a child’s parent(s) want(s) a place as soon as the child is 26 weeks old, the municipality has an additional four weeks to offer a place.
You are responsible for meeting the municipality’s deadlines.
