When we take care of your child

Find out about meals at your child's institution and how to deregister from daycare if you wish to move your child to another daycare institution, if you move to another municipality or if you leave Denmark.

  • Opening hours and closing days

    Normal opening hours in daycare institutions in Aarhus are 6.30-17.00, Friday until 16.30. There are day care institutions that have extended opening hours or shorter opening hours. Within certain guidelines the daycare institutions decide for themselves when they will have closing days during the year.

  • Withdrawing your child from childcare

    Withdraw your child from childcare, SFO and club. Withdrawal must be done with two months' notice. You can withdraw your child for the 15th, or for the last day of the month.

    Children in a daycare institution, nursery and kindergarten are offered a healthy meal for lunch on a daily basis.

  • Get leave from childcare

    You can apply for your child to get a leave from their childminder, day nursery or kindergarten. Your child cannot get a leave from SFO or club. You must apply for a leave with a minimum of two months’ notice, and the leave must last for at least eight weeks.
