Nordic citizens taking up residence in Aarhus

As a citizen from Finland, Iceland Norway, or Sweden, you are free to live, study and work in Denmark without a residence permit.

If you are staying in Denmark for for more than three months, you will need to follow these steps:

Step 1: register your address and get a CPR number 
Step 2: request NemID
Step 3: apply for a tax card (if you have any income while in Denmark)

    NemID is your personal secure login for digital contact with public authorities, netbanking and a wide range of online self service solutions. Your NemID is issued by Citizen Service. You can apply for a NemID when you appear in person to finish your CPR registration at Dokk1.

    If you have any income, while staying in Denmark, you need to apply for at tax card from the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen).

  • If you already have a CPR number

    Due to the situation concerning Covid-19 the procedure of getting a CPR number has changed from October 29 2020. You must call Citizen Service at 89 40 10 30 (Monday-Friday 10-14, Thursday 10-16). We will help you get registered. This applies whether it is your first time applying for a CPR number or if a CPR number has been issued to you before.
